Proofreading Format

Use the Dialogue Editor's Database > Export Database > Proofreading format to export your database to a plain text format useful for proofreading, such as running it through a spell checker.

The basic steps are:

  1. Use Export Database > Proofreading > Export to export your database content to a proofreading text file, plus an extra file for each extra localization language defined in your database. The file will look similar to:
    |> Proofreading File for Demo Database
    |> Do not modify lines that start with '|>'!
    |>
    |> ACTORS -------------------------------------------------
    |> ACTOR [1]: Player
    |> DESCRIPTION:

    |>

    |> CONVERSATIONS ------------------------------------------
    |> CONVERSATION [1]: Private Hart
    |> DESCRIPTION:
This conversation occurs between the Player and Private Hart, who explains the main quest (Get the Launch Codes). Nodes' Conditions fields branch the conversation based on the current quest state.
    |> ENTRY [1] (Private Hart)
    |> DIALOGUE TEXT:
We need to intercept the launch codes before the enemy launches their weapon at our home world.

  2. Edit the text files. Do not modify lines that start with |>.
  3. Use Export Database > Proofreading > Import to import the proofreading text files back into your dialogue database. This will update the database with any fields that have changed in the proofreading text file. It will also log all changes to the Console.
