Accedently flipped active/complete in journal

Post by CruttMutt »

Hello!

I have no idea how I did this... but I seemed to have flipped the active and complete in the journal. I didn't edit anything and it looks fine in inspector. Have I clicked something I can't seem to locate again by accident? It's fine for now but will become more of an issue when the quests grow longer. Of course I'd like the most recent and active on top for convenience.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Do you mean "It's My First Day" is active and should appear in white? And "Get To Work!" is completed and should appear in gray?

If so, check the quest journal UI's Unity UI Quest Journal UI component. Maybe Selection Panel > Active Quest Name Template and Completed Quest Name Template are switched.

Looking at this does bring up a general feature question that I'll ask in a separate post.

Hey,

Thanks for the response. Ah no, they are correct in which is complete (grey) and active (white), but the active quests are appearing bellow the completed quests even though in scene view and based on what I can see in the editor they are in the correct spots.

So in this case "get to work" should be ontop :)

Cheers!

There's currently no special sorting of completed quests separate from active quests.

In the next update (currently in development), I'm thinking of adding these default sorting options:
  • Sort all quests by group (already done). Show groups in alphabetical order. Show non-group quests after all groups.
  • In each group, show active quests first, then completed quests. Sort active quests alphabetically. Short completed quests alphabetically.
  • Maybe an option to show completed quests first? This would be useful for checklist-type journal UIs, where it will look like you're going down the checklist in order, ticking off your to-do items.
You'll be able to untick the options to revert to the (mostly-unsorted) behavior of the current version.

I was actually just about to write asking if it was even a feature or if in my break I had completely forgotten and assumed I changed something haha.

Good to know, I can stop messing around with it now. And those would be great! Really good options. Since I will have a few different options and quite a lot of quests it would be helpful to be able to priorities the active up the top. But knowing this I can make a system in the meantime to make it work narratively. Thanks! I will definitely give those a try when they are up and running.

None of it's game breaking but it would be nice for when I implement my custom UI Journal too :)

Cheers!

Sounds good! The next update should be available fairly soon (next week).
