Suggested Authoring Workflow on Mac OS X/iOS?

Post by wiverson »

Hi!

I'm currently mainly doing dev work on my iMac and MacBook Pro. On trips and coffeeshop runs, I often just bring my iPad. I'd like to write dialog stuff when I'm out and about, and then be able to bring that in to Dialog System later.

My idea scenario is probably a text file format that's lightweight like Markdown. I'd love to be able to write something that looks like a simplified choose-your-own-adventure with labeled blocks for jumping around.

I'm guessing that this doesn't exist right now. In the docs there's a reference to ConverterWindowTemplate.cs for importing my own format.

Any thoughts or suggestions before I ponder the benefits/costs of doing a quick pass at a custom format...? Would anyone else find something like that useful...?

Cheers,
-Will

Use the JLC Converter, available on the Dialogue System Extras page. It's a simple but well-designed text format. The studio making Jenny LeClue: Detectivu use it, and they contributed it for other Dialogue System users.

This is perfect - exactly what I needed. The inclusion of a Google Docs formatter is icing on the cake. :D
