Is it possible to enlarge the dark grey background in the node editor?
I have a very sprawling conversation where the nodes are now at the edge of the dark grey area.
Can I expand the dark grey background somehow?

You can still expand your conversation's nodes into the lighter grey background. There's no difference other than color, as a rough suggestion that maybe your conversation is getting a bit unwieldy. Alternatively, you can move subtrees to their own conversations and link between those conversations. To link a node to another conversation, in the node's "Links To:" dropdown select "(Another Conversation)".
