Lively Chat Bubbles - Typewriter

Post by jjpixelc »

Hi

Does anybody happen to know if there's an easy way to turn off the typewrite effect on the chat bubbles when using the asset with Dialogue System?

Hi,

The Lively Chat Bubble Subtitle Panel component points to a Chat Output Profile asset.

Duplicate this asset, and assign the duplicate to the Lively Chat Bubble Subtitle Panel in place of the original.

Then inspect the duplicate. Set Initial Delay to 0 and Characters Per Second to a super high value such as 99999, or 2147483647 if you want to use the max value, although 99999 characters per second is pretty much guaranteed to type it all in the first frame.

Yes, this works great.
Did look at this myself, but didn't think of just putting the CPS to a mega-number.

By the way, is there any way to use Text Mesh Pro in the bubbles without rewriting all the scripts myself?

Hi,

No, I'm afraid not. Your best scriptless option is to use the Dialogue System's regular bubble subtitle panel, which supports TextMesh Pro. However, the regular bubble subtitle panel doesn't have all the extra features that Lively Chat Bubbles has. Another option is to contact the LCB developer. They might be open to updating the asset to support TMPro.
