Hey Tony!

Your dialogue system is awesome, do you have plan to make a same system on Unreal engine?

Hi,

Not currently. Maybe in the future, but no plans now.

I know this is an old thread, but seen what was announced by Unity a few days ago.....
Do you have plans to make all your assets for Unreal/Godot as well? (especially Dialogue, Love/Hate, Quest Machine in my case :) )

I haven't made any decision yet, but I'm looking at my options. Currently the complete lack of Transparency and of a cap on what we have to pay Unity upon success has me very worried, which is why I am looking at alternatives :)

Thanks for the consideration!

Hi,

Unity will still be 100% supported and developed for. Despite the runtime fee mess going on right now, it's hands down the best general purpose game engine for indie devs.

However, I'm also looking into porting at least the Dialogue System to Unreal and/or Godot. The good news is that, if this happens, your dialogue databases should be compatible across Unity and the other engine, so you won't lose any of your dialogue content. The only exception are UnityEvents in the dialogue entry's OnExecute() section. So if you think you might switch engines at some point, I recommend using Lua functions and sequencer commands instead of OnExecute() UnityEvents.

I was just coming over here to see if anyone has asked this question. I'm not sure that I'm moving over to Unreal, but I am giving it a serious look.

But leaving behind Dialogue System would be a hard thing

Thanks Tony, I was just about to ask the same thing about Unreal. Thank you so much for looking at the possibilities. Unity is a mess right now but the Dialogue System is so, so, so useful I don't see myself changing engines without it. Again, thanks you for being so responsive always!

I would absolutely be willing to pay again if you decided to port this to Godot. Definitely an essential asset.

I can't change engines at this point in development, but if Dialogue System and Adventure Creator had versions for a different engine, I would abandon Unity for future games. I favour Godot (so nothing like this could happen again), but I'd also consider Unreal.
