When creating new dialogue child nodes I like that I can add a child node->double click and enter dialogue text directly in the editor. What I don't like is I have to mix between using the mouse and keyboard and I don't see a way to save the text and keep focus on the current node.

The only way I can see to save that text is to mouse click outside the input field.
That then loses focus on the node meaning I have to left click the last node first, then I can add the next child node (with mouse or keyboard).
This is cumbersome and error prone when trying to do rapid conversation entries especially since I have to mix using mouse and keyboard.

What I could really use right now is a way to both begin typing that text and save it without losing focus on the child node. Ideally as keyboard shortcuts.

Something like...
CTRL+ALT+N to add child node
SHIFT+ENTER to begin typing dialogue text on that node (new shortcut instead of double left mouse click)
CTRL+ENTER to save that text, close the input field and return focus to that node (new shortcut)
Then I can proceed with existing shortcuts to continue rapid dialogue entry.

I see there are at least some keyboard shortcuts, but can those be customized?

Or is there a more efficient way to enter lots of dialogue?

How about if I add:

• Shift+Enter to being typing text on the currently-selected node
• Ctrl+Entry to accept the text and keep that node selected

Then I think you could enter an entire linear conversation without using the mouse.

Other options are using tools like the JLC Converter on the Dialogue System Extras page to type your conversation into a text file and import that text file into the dialogue database as a conversation.

That would be great.

My preference would be to use the Dialogue System editor mainly for all the other built-in things that help with visual confirmation (color, labels, portraits etc). Plus that JLC stuff is for MAC and I'm on Windows

JLC Converter is a custom editor window script. It works on Windows, Linux, and Mac.

However, I totally understand you wanting to use the built-in Dialogue Editor. It's by nature the best integrated with the Dialogue System.
