Salsa Suite UCC and DS

Just a little note about the DS integration with Salsa when using UCC.

Tony recently made is possible that the audio source be a child component. This is useful because if you want to assign a mixer channel (say Dialogue) to the NPC with Salsa, having it on the parent causes an issue with UCC playing sounds like Jump - as it searches the parent object for an existing audio source to play through. What happens in this case is you have UCC effect sounds played through the dialogue channel of your audio mixer.

Being able to assign the Salsa Audio Source field to a child alleviates this. However, you NEED to make sure that the Audio Source is the top one in the hierarchy of the game object. If your selected Audio Source is below the NPC rig (in the hierarchy) the Audio Source for the footstep sounds will be select by the DS integration instead. The playback component will be different, i.e. not the one being analyzed by Salsa, and you will not get the lipsyncing to work.
