I haven't been able to reproduce the issue. I'm using Dialogue System 2.1.6, Unity 2018.1.0, and the latest Subsurface Similar package from the Extras page. I made two builds -- one with Run In Background on, one with Run in Background off. I went through a few lines, alt+tabbed to another window for about 3 minutes, and then returned.
