I downloaded the new thing, and the start menu still isn't going away

Can you please post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks for the video!

- Are there any warnings or errors in the Console window? Check the little icons in the upper right of the window to make sure you haven't filtered them out.

- Have you assigned the correct gameplay scene to the Visual Novel Menu Canvas GameObject's Saver Helper script? Make sure there are no typos in the 'First Gameplay Scene Name' field.

- Have you added the gameplay scene to build settings?

1. No errors or warning popped up.
2. The proper scene is loading, but everything is covered up by the start screen since it's on the top layer

The VN starter framework has an Example folder with two scenes. Please add both scenes to build settings. Then play Example Start. When you click Start, does it hide the start menu?

The example works fine. Although, I just realized that when testing this for my own game, I did not add the Start menu to the build settings? Could that be the problem?

That was the problem. I was only adding the Gameplay scene to the build settings. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No problem! I'm just glad it's working now. :-)

One final question: I can't seem to get the portrait name to display. Whenever I try, it just keeps saying (NAME) instead of the character's name.
