Npc player object isn't noticed when the mouse hovers over it

Im working on a 3d top down crpg and for some reason the cursor doesn't select or identify the 3d model known as the npc when the player gets close or the cursor is above it,i followed the tutorial and don't know why that problem occurs, do you have a possible solution to my situation please
