setting 0.5 (or other arbitrary number) to disable the input so player don't additionally select anything!

You can already set the Standard UI Menu Panel component's Block Input Duration. It defaults to 0, but you can change it to 0.5 to prevent the player from clicking menu responses for the first 0.5 seconds.
