I am looking for recommendations on the process when using the Dialog System with a writer and game designer. Starting a new project and want to start it off in the best way possible, so asking all of the experts here. Localization will need to be included.
1. Is it best to write dialog and selections in excel for editing and then import them into Unity?
2. Don't use excel; use "name tool here" and then import it into Unity.
3. Write everything in Unity and teach the rest of the team how to use it
Or is there a better process I'm missing that you recommend?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Tool Process Recommendation
Re: Tool Process Recommendation
Don't use Excel; this isn't the 1980s.
If your writer and designer are comfortable learning Unity, that's a good approach since it minimizes the number of tools in the workflow.
However, if they prefer to work outside of Unity, I recommend any of these editors: articy:draft, Arcweave, Celtx, or Chat Mapper. articy:draft is the most popular.

Re: Tool Process Recommendation
The tools from the 80-90s will never die! haha, brutal.
Yeah, I would prefer not to use Excel. I will look into the other tools. Thanks, Tony.

Re: Tool Process Recommendation
Glad to help!
Excel still has its place, like for data tables, but definitely not for dialogue any more.
