Set size for Portraits in VN Framework

Post by lostmushroom »

Hey Tony, I'm just wondering how to set a fixed size for actor portraits in the VN. They're showing up very squashed at the moment.

Hi,

You may want to determine your portrait size and set the image to be those absolute dimensions (or at least the same aspect ratio) instead of letting it auto-scale. The default "Visual Novel Dialogue UI" included in the Visual Novel Starter Framework package uses a size of 192 x 256. If this isn't the same aspect ratio as your portrait images, you may need to change it.

You could also try ticking the Portrait Image components' "Preserve Aspect" checkboxes.

Hey thanks for the reply. So in general, it's a good idea to keep all character portraits the same dimensions (meaning smaller characters have some transparency)?

I changed the numbers in the Layout Element component of the portrait images, but they're still displaying the same.

Also I'm probably missing something really obvious but where is the Preserve Aspect checkboxes?

Hi,

The Image component only shows a "Preserve Aspect" checkbox when the Image Type is set to Simple or Filled.

Can you post a screenshot of the distortion? Or check the image sizes at runtime. Have they changed, or are they still the values you set?
