i2loc integration : How to export localized strings from Dialogue System to I2Languages asset

Post by Alexis »

I'm using Dialogue System and I2Languages together. The integration works well, but I'm finding one issue with it that I'm pretty sure I'm just missing the way to do it.

I have some dialogues localized in french in the dialogue system. I want to export the fields to i2 in order to make a new google sheet for localization in a third language with references in both french and english. However, with DStoI2, I can't seem to add the localized fields in i2.

Example of localized field in Dialogue System :
loc1.png
loc1.png (21.97 KiB) Viewed 687 times
Attempts to use DS to I2 to send it to I2Languages :
loc3.png
loc3.png (57.14 KiB) Viewed 687 times
Result in I2Languages
loc2.png
loc2.png (9.42 KiB) Viewed 687 times

Am I doing something wrong ?
When I use "From I2" the terms are properly added to Dialogue System.

Hi,

The DS To I2 window is designed to send localizations one way: from i2 to the Dialogue System. It doesn't currently support sending localizations from the Dialogue System to i2; it's designed to only send the primary terms (e.g., Display Name, Dialogue Text, etc.) to i2. It assumes that i2 will be the source of all translations.

I can work on adding that as a feature after DS version 2.2.17 is released. Version 2.2.17 is nearing completion.

Ahhh I see ! It makes sense but it's not clear that it's one way since the UI Suggest both to and from.
It's its not too much work, it would be useful to have an option for it in case the format of the fields change or to simplify translation in multiple batches.

Thanks for the quick answer, I'll see if I can add this quickly and keep an eye out for new releases :D

Good point. I'll add clarification to the window. I think adding the option to transfer translations to from DS to i2 will also help make it clear when translations will go to i2 and when they won't.
