Typewriter speed

Post by halbey »

Hi,

first of all thank you for this asset, I have purchased it some time ago and just recently started to work with it and I have to say it's excellent.

I have a scene with a simple dialogue between 2 characters, no response menu or action to be taken by the player.
Have modified the "Basic Standard Dialogue UI" template to have 2 separated boxes for each character (with scroll rect / scroll content / subtitle text).

It does automatically scroll down as it is supposed to, however the issue is that when the line (dialogue entry) is longer than the box content (or even longer than 1 line) the text typing gets much faster and almost impossible to follow.

I have tried to change some variables and searched through the forum but couldn't find a solution yet; from what I read it kinda looks like the effect that is achieved when the continue button is pressed (speeding up text) but I have removed this button.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi,

What version of the Dialogue System are you using? To get the version, you can select menu item Tools > Pixel Crushers > Dialogue System > Welcome Window or look at the Dialogue System's _README.txt file.

If it's not the latest, would you please back up your project and then import the latest version?

There was a similar issue with the typewriter effect many versions ago, but it has been fixed for quite some time. If that doesn't fix it, let me know so we can investigate it further.

Hi,

thank you for your quick reply.

I had version 2.1.7 and updated to the latest (2.2.3) but I still get the same issue.

Do you think it's possible that I send you a test scene (with dummy characters, "fake" text etc.) so you can check where is the problem?

Hi,

Of course! I'll be happy to take a look. You can send it to tony (at) pixelcrushers.com.

It would be best if you can make a small reproduction project. Then zip up the entire Assets and ProjectSettings folders and send me the zip file.
